Sharing the Heritage of Greek Story Tellers
with Evangelia Philippidis
Sharing the Heritage of Greek Storytellers
Since the time of Homer, the Greeks have been master storytellers. They created images in the listeners’ mind and depicted them on classical pottery. For the Ancient Greeks, nature and mankind were intricately bound with many of their myths stressing the need for humans to treat nature with respect and humility. Hear from a modern-day Greek storyteller and artist whose stories and images speak about mythical heroes and Olympian gods in the best tradition of her ancestors, while also depicting today’s world through imagery and the written word.
Evangelia Philippidis has been a winning editorial illustrator for The Columbus Dispatch (for 22 years) and for other major national newspapers; and a book cover illustrator for Yale University Press, Penguin classics and other international publishing houses. She is also an educator at the Columbus College of Art and Design and is a nationally recognized fine artist.
